It's been close to four years since the last season of Aziz Ansari's Master of None dropped on Netflix, but there have been rumblings that the series will be back. Master of None found Ansari starring as thirty-something actor Dev Shah as it followed his romantic, professional, and personal experiences, and according to Chortle, the series will be returning for a third season that will be shot in London.
None of this has been confirmed, so keep your salt at the ready, but Chortle also claims that Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) has joined the cast, possibly as Dev's latest love interest, and that Lena Waithe (Ready Player One) is also expected to return as Denise, Dev's friend. Not only that, but Chortle also says that Ansari and co-creator Alan Yang actually started shooting the third season in London last spring before they were forced to halt due to COVID-19.
Prior to the debut of the second season of Master of None in 2017, Aziz Ansari told Vulture that he wasn't sure whether or not they were even going to do a third season. "I wouldn’t be surprised if I needed a looonng break before I could come back to it," Ansari said. "I’ve got to become a different guy before I write a third season, is my personal thought, I’ve got to get married or have a kid or something. I don’t have anything else to say about being a young guy being single in New York eating food around town all the time." The following year found Ansari accused of sexual misconduct, and although the actor largely retreated from the public eye following the allegations, Netflix's then vice-president of original content Cindy Holland said that they "would be happy to make another season of Master of None when Aziz is ready."
