Mary-Louise Parker signs on for Stephen King series Mr. Mercedes

Mary-Louise Parker has long been one of my favorite actresses, there's just something about her screen presence that I have always found appealing, so I'mĀ glad to hear that she has signed on to have a recurring role on the Stephen King-inspired series Mr. Mercedes.

Based on the 2014 King novel of the same name, Mr. Mercedes has been adapted into series form by David E. Kelley, who will also be serving as showrunner. The story follows

a demented killer (Harry Treadaway) who taunts a retired police detective (Brendan Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Parker will be playing a character named Janey Patterson, a woman who radiates charm and beauty. "She's emotionally mature, strong-willed, and totally winning."

Parker, Treadaway, and Gleeson's co-stars include Jharrel Jerome, Holland Taylor, and Kelly Lynch.

CHILD'S PLAY 3 director Jack Bender, better known as the director of many an episode of Lost, will be directing the pilot episode and will executive produce the series with Kelley and Temple Hill Entertainment's Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

Mr. Mercedes will be available for viewing this fall on DirecTV, DirecTV Now, and AT&T U-verse.
