The title may not be familiar but the film itself is one we’ve had our eyes on for a few months now as THE CELLAR—formerly known as VALENCIA—looks to be adding Mary Elizabeth Winstead to its cast alongside John Goodman, reports Variety. The film, which is produced by J.J. Abrams for Bad Robot, is to be directed by Dan Trachtenberg and it sounds like the type of movie that's going to find its strength in leaving the viewers in the dark.
Dan Casey wrote the most recent version of the script; it goes like this:
The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.
While the site didn't say which role Winstead is up for, I'd imagine we'll be seeing her as the one who wakes up in THE CELLAR. Goodman, on the other hand, will play the man that "saves" her life. But did he really save her or is it all part of some twisted plan? Keep an eye here for more as we get it!
