Don't get too used to referring the finale of Phase Three in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PARTS 1 and 2. Those titles may not be around for the long haul.
That was the latest revelation to come from CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR directors Joe and Anthony Russo as they make the promotional rounds to spread the word of the latest Marvel movie. With a microphone or recorder in the face constantly the last few weeks, it was inevitable for something interesting like this to wind up surfacing. In an interview with Mike Ryan at Uproxx, the filmmaking brothers confirmed that both parts of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will be retitled at the appropriate moment… or when they finally come up with the right fit, whichever comes first.
The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.
Both brothers agree that the PART 1 and PART 2 division has been misleading, because both films are very different from one another. They aren't what many would believe to be one giant movie just split in half with some sort of cliffhanger that divides them. And, in order to really drive that home, they're ditching what is in place for something that works better. What could they possible be? Who knows, but go ahead and start guessing. You never know who might be reading and have the mindset to steal your exceptional title ideas.
The movies soon to be formerly known as AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PARTS 1 and 2 and scheduled for release respectively on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019.
