The release date for Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion series has been revealed on Disney+, although no official announcement has been made.

It’s been over six months since the first teaser trailer for Marvel’s Secret Invasion series was released, but now we finally have a release date. No official announcement about the release has been made, but the Secret Invasion page on Disney+ was updated to say that it will premiere on June 21st.

Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. The series “showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.” Cobie Smulders also returns as former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, with Olivia Coleman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Martin Freeman, and Don Cheadle rounding out the rest of the cast. Secret Invasion was written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet, with Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim directing the six episodes of the series.

As with the comic series, it’s expected that Secret Invasion will deal with a secret infiltration of Skrulls in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in 2021 that it likely won’t match the scope of the comic. “Well, there were more characters in the Secret Invasion comic series than there were in Endgame so, no,” Feige said. “It’s not that but it very much is a showcase for Sam Jackson and Ben Mendelson and tapping into the paranoia elements of the Secret Invasion comic series that was great with the twists and turns that that took. So, that’s certainly our focus more than, ‘Can we cram in more characters than Endgame? like publishing?’

Secret Invasion will be the first series of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be released, but it certainly won’t be the last. Following Secret Invasion will be Ironheart, Echo, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Daredevil: Born Again, as well as the second seasons of Loki and What If…?. If the Secret Invasion release date pans out, we should hear an official announcement soon, and perhaps even a new trailer.
