Marvel’s Avengers game to add Hawkeye as a playable character

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Marvel's Avengers July War Table event recently hit the mark when it was revealed that Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, will become a playable character for the upcoming video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix.

Modeled after the version of the character featured in writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja's solo series, titled Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon, the Avenger many fans love to hate will be getting his own story mission in Marvel's Avengers that will take place outside of the game's campaign. As an added bonus, Hawkeye will also be playable in both co-op and solo modes.

As you can see from the video posted above, Hawkeye looks to be up to all of his old tricks as he takes down menacing-looking machines with his trusty bow and quiver filled with trick arrows. Hopefully, this video serves as a tease for Barton's maneuverability in-game, as it would certainly be fun to bound around while loosing arrows that shock and awe.

Marvel’s Avengers is an epic, third-person, action-adventure game that combines an original, cinematic story with single-player and co-operative gameplay. Assemble into a team of up to four players online, master extraordinary abilities, customize a growing roster of Heroes, and defend the Earth from escalating threats.

In terms of plot, the game takes place in a world where the Avengers have disbanded after the apparent fall of Captain America. Having failed the very planet they mean to protect, a new hero by the name of Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel) must reunite the team if they're to stop an evil organization named Advanced Idea Mechanics from stripping the world of its last scraps of humanity and order.

Marvel's Avengers will superhero-land on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC on September 4th.
