Owen Wilson has revealed that he has been warned by Marvel “multiple times” to be cautious about spoilers when discussing the Disney+ series Loki.
Wilson, who plays Mobius M. Mobius on Loki, currently stars in Paramount+’s Secret Headquarters–another superhero venture. As reported by ComicBook.com, on the promotional circuit for Secret Headquarters, co-director Ariel Schulman prompted him on whether or not he has faced the wrath of Marvel concerning spoilers for the series.
I immediately get kind of self-conscious because they’re [Marvel] so kind of uptight…When I let it slip that I’m wearing a mustache…I got an ominous text saying ‘Strike One.’”
Owen Wilson isn’t the only Marvel star who has strikes against him for revealing spoilers. It turns out there is a history within the Marvel Cinematic Universe of its stars spoiling–or nearly spoiling–their movies, from plot details to character deaths.
Tom Holland, who just announced a social media hiatus (citing mental health concerns), is notorious for doing so. On various occasions, he has let slip details on costumes, Spider-Man appearances that had yet to be announced and more. Mark Ruffalo is another frequent spoiler. His most notable slip came during the 2017 Thor: Ragnarok premiere, which he accidentally live-streamed on Instagram for 20 minutes. This, we understand, is a major no-no. But maybe he just wanted to give fans an advanced screening–well, listening, as the phone was in his pocket.
Season one of Loki concluded its six-episode run in July, while season two is currently filming and set to premiere on Disney+ next year. Loki will be one of numerous series part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Secret Headquarters is currently streaming on Paramount+. You can read our review here. Don’t worry, there are no spoilers!
