In addition to Marvel’s theatrical slate, the studio has plenty of TV offerings on the way as well. We’ve got quite a few Marvel adventures to look forward to, including Secret Invasion, Echo, Ironheart, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Daredevil: Born Again, and the second seasons of Loki and What If…?. Following the conclusion of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, fans can expect to see Werewolf By Night and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special later this year. The Marvel presentation at the D23 Expo has shed a little more light on their upcoming TV offerings.
The TV portion of Marvel’s D23 Expo panel began with a pulpy teaser trailer for Werewolf By Night. Presented in black and white, Marvel’s Halloween special looks like a grindhouse creature feature, offering something entirely different from Marvel’s current Disney+ lineup.
Next, Marvel debuted a trailer for Secret Invasion. In Marvel’s Secret Invasion trailer, a grizzled Nick Fury returns from the far reaches of space to deliver grim tidings to the people of Earth. Maria Hill feels like Fury abandoned her and wants an explanation for his absence. Fury explains the oncoming circumstances and why they’re about to face a threat unlike any other. As the footage continues, we see Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Emilia Clarke entering the fray. Everyone is on their guard, unsure who to trust or about to pull a trigger.
According to today’s Marvel panel, Secret Invasion leads directly into another upcoming Marvel series, Armor Wars. Speaking of which, Armor Wars is filming in 2023, so details are scarce.
Marvel gave Riri Williams a proper introduction for the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart. In addition to debuting a snazzy logo for the show, Marvel screened footage for the series. In the reel, Riri is at MIT with Jim Rash, reprising his role from Captain America: Civil War. We see her building an armored suit. Anthony Ramos leads a crew that steals to fund their research. He has a red hooded cloak that gives him powers. Oh, snap! It’s Red Hood, y’all!
Marvel then brought Loki Season 2 to the stage. While discussing the anticipated follow-up series, Feige was joined by Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino. After fans had simmered down, it was revealed that Ke Hey Quan (The Goonies, Everything Everywhere All At Once) would join the cast. According to the panel, Loki Season 2 will answer the question: “How did we get here?”
Next, the cast of Marvel’s Echo arrived on the scene. Echo is thrilled to feature a deaf and indigenous superhero. Everyone learned ASL to encourage better communication throughout the series. Vincent D’Onofrio is excited about Wilson Fisk and Maya (Echo) coming together for more screen time.
Meanwhile, Daredevil: Born Again starts filming its 18-episode run in 2023. Charlie Cox got up on the stage, a brand-new logo for the show glowing brightly behind him.
There’s still plenty more in store for Disney’s D23 Expo. Make sure you stay close for the latest updates, and let us know which shows you’re excited about in the comments.
