At the end of AVENGERS: ENDGAME, Steve Rogers made the decision not to continue on as Captain America. Instead, the First Avenger got to ride off into the sunset with his gal Friday, Peggy Carter. However, in a denouement that foreshadowed things to come, Rogers passed the torch – or should I say shield – to his friend Sam Wilson, AKA The Falcon. This was much to the chagrin of Team Bucky, AKA The Winter Soldier. However, not long after ENDGAME took the box office by storm, Marvel Studios announced that the adventures of the Winter Soldier and Falcon would continue on courtesy of Disney +, and now we have confirmation that production has begun on the Marvel superhero show.
Principal photography on the aptly titled The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came courtesy of showrunner Malcolm Spellman. Spellman announced the news via Instagram, however it appears as though The House of Mouse may have been none too keen on that, as it's since been taken down. One can only assume that Spellman was taken to Mickey Mouse's bunker deep beneath Disney World and slapped repeatedly with the wet mops from The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
We know virtually next to nothing regarding the story for the upcoming Disney + show, one of eight Marvel programs the streamer has on the docket. Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie will return as the Winter Soldier and the Falcon respectively, and Daniel Brühl will also make his return as Helmut Zero from CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also see the return of Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter and Wyatt Russell (OVERLORD) joins the cast as supervillain John Walker/Super-Patriot. The show will consist of six hour long episodes to be directed by Kari Skogland.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to debut on Disney + Fall 2020.
