Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige gives us an update on Phase 3 plans for Dr. Strange and Hulk

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been incredibly open with his interview with EW and Comic Book Movie has the last of his talks with the magazine.

With Phase 2 kicking off in a big way (and I do mean big) with IRON MAN 3, everyone wants to know what the plans are for Phase 3. There have been some rumors and speculations but Feige says that while there are some ideas so far, nothing is set in place yet for Phase 3. One of those rumors has been about Dr. Strange and Kevin Feige is still interested in bringing the Sorcerer Supreme to the big screen:

Within the next year or so we'll really start the advanced planning on post – Avengers 2, and I would love Strange to be a part of that. There's a whole supernatural/magic dimension going on in Marvel comics that we haven't ever touched on.

While THOR got around some of the mystical elements by explaining it as advanced alien technology, you just can't take the magic away from Dr. Strange and I'm glad Marvel agrees. The supernatural element in Marvel comics that Feige mentions really hasn't been explored in the films yet and those elements would be an interesting addition to Marvel's cinematic world.

Kevin Feige was also asked if a solo Hulk movie could be a part of Phase 3:

There's no script in the works or anything, but we are talking about it. All the Hulk energy right now is on Avengers 2, but Mark Ruffalo is signed up [for more films]. What we're excited about exploring and expanding is Mark – and Bruce Banner is not in Planet Hulk at all. The fun of Hulk is his interaction with humans.

As exciting as it was to see "Hulk Smash" in THE AVENGERS I think most people agree that it was Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of Bruce Banner that was almost more memorable. Marvel knows that too and I think that's also part of the reason why we aren't going to get a Planet Hulk movie.

Phase 2 has begun and next up is THOR: THE DARK WORLD on November 8th, 2013.
