Marvel sets Geneva Robertson-Dworet to go nova on the Captain Marvel script

Marvel has tapped screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet to take the script for CAPTAIN MARVEL higher, faster, and further than ever before! Set to be directed by both Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, CAPTAIN MARVEL will star Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in Marvel's first solo female-led motion picture.

Originally set to write the script were Meg LeFauve (INSIDE OUT) & Nicole Perlman (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY), though LeFauve left the project to pursue a co-directing role for Disney Animation's GIGANTIC. As a result, Robertson-Dworet, the writer of SHERLOCK HOLMES 3, GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, and TOMB RAIDER will be stepping in to go nova on the scripting process for Carol's big screen adventure.

So far, only Brie Larson and Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson have been officially cast for the upcoming film. I think it's also worth noting that official plot details for the movie have yet to be announced. What we do know is that CAPTAIN MARVEL will tell the story of Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who becomes fused with an alien after a terrible accident. In time, Carol begins to develope omega-level powers, to which she then uses them to fight against the forces of evil. As part of her superhero makeup, Captain Marvel has super strength, can fly, and is able to shoot photon (or nova) blasts from her fists. If I'm being honest, she's really quite amazing. I once saw her punch a tyrannosaurus rex in the face without batting so much as an eyelash.

If you're interested in the character, I highly recommend that you read Captain Marvel, Vol. 1 Higher, Faster, Further, More written by Kelly Sue Deconnick with art by David Lopez.

CAPTAIN MARVEL is expected to punch dinosaurs in the face (I hope) beginning on March 8, 2019.
