I'm looking forward to DOCTOR STRANGE. Mainly because it looks, well, strange. While I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe as much as the next sweaty nerd, there can sometimes be a "samey" quality to the various films (which is why I think GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and WINTER SOLDIER stick out, since they have a comparatively different look and tone from most of the films). I also like how DOCTOR STRANGE seems to leaning hard into its psychadelic Steve Ditko-influence with its trippy-ass (and awesome-as-hell) visuals.
So, in anticipation for the release of the film, Marvel has rolled out three new character posters and a new trailer for your viewing pleasure.
Here's the trailer:
First one is for Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) himself:
Another for Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer:
And lastly, Benedict Wong as…Wong:
These look pretty snazzy (even if the Doctor Strange one is very reminiscent of this earlier poster). I like that it's not just floating heads or simple posing, and instead utilizes dynamic compositions and framing. The backgrounds are interesting, and the colors pop. While it's a bit overly-photoshopped, I think these posters work well. It definitely gets me more excited to see the film.
DOCTOR STRANGE will hit theaters November 4th, 2016.
What about you guys? Excited for DOCTOR STRANGE?
