Marvel is popping up everywhere today, so I thought I’d condense it into one little round-up for you. According to screen daily, the Joss Whedon-directed THE AVENGERS 2 is slated to film in the United Kingdom, moving into the Pinewood-Sheparton Studios where THOR: THE DARK WORLD was recently filmed (and where GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is currently prepping), preparing to start production by the end of the year. It’s a big boost for the UK, who seem to be attracting a lot of big-budget pics to their island, with recent productions including JACK RYAN, MALEFICENT, and THE MUPPETS sequel.
Also today, Marvel unveiled it’s Phase 2 trailer that is included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 1 blu-ray set, which focuses on Iron Man’s involvement in Phase 2 primarily and how he has progressed from that first end-credit sequence in IRON MAN to the beginning of IRON MAN 3. Very cool to make that connection and to think about how far Marvel has come on the big screen.
Take a look:
Lastly, we have yet another TV spot for IRON MAN 3, which features a lot of back-and-forth dialogue between Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) and The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), as each character taunts the other with one threat after another. Based on the trailer’s alone it feels like Stark finally has a villain that he can go toe-to-toe with, as the previos villains of Iron Monger and Whiplash felt a little deflated.
“Let’s go”:
THE AVENGERS 2 is slated to blow up the box office on May 1, 2015 while IRON MAN 3 is just a month away, dropping on May 3, 2013.
