Let me slip into Jerry Seinfeld for a minute here and ask what’s the deal with the shortening of movie titles these days? First JOHN CARTER OF MARS is now JOHN CARTER and today Scorsese’s HUGO CABRET is just HUGO? Do people have so much ADD where they can’t read three four words in a row?
In any case, ComingSoon snapped this photo of the first poster for HUGO. Doesn’t exactly look like your typical Scorsese film, and the plot synopsis would reinforce that notion.
The film tells the tale of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. When Hugo encounters a broken automaton, an eccentric girl, and the cold, reserved man who runs the toy shop, he is caught up in a magical, mysterious adventure that could put all of his secrets in jeopardy.
I’m extremely curious to see a Scorsese children’s film, but if I had to judge by the name, plot and poster, it looks like a questionable Zemeckis joint right now.
