ANT-MAN is one of the most secretive projects on the upcoming calendar alongside STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and THE FANTASTIC FOUR which likely means the film is shooting a significant amount on sound stages rather than on location. This could be cause for alarm or we could just be paranoid due to the departure of Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish earlier this year. Even co-star Patrick Wilson departed due to the scheduling delay when Peyton Reed took over as director, but you never can tell these days what the hell is going on.
Case in point, ANT-MAN has added a new castmember. Martin Donovan, best known for roles on Showtime's WEEDS and Starz series BOSS, has joined the film in an unidentified role. All we do know is The Hollywood Reporter cites sources who say Donovan's role is "pivotal" which could mean anything. Is Donovan taking over Patrick Wilson's role or that of another villain? We have no idea.
To date, all we confirm is that Paul Rudd is playing Scott Lang and Michael Douglas is Hank Pym. The additional cast includes Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, John Slattery, and Michael Pena. We won't know for certain what else is going on until Marvel decides to share, but it appears they are on track after all the pre-production delays.
ANT-MAN is slated to open on July 17, 2015.
