Whoa, Bundy! Prepare to have your paycheck pillaged and relive your cherished high school football memories because Married … With Children is coming back! An animated version of the sitcom is in the works at Sony Pictures Television, with the original cast (Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, David Faustino) returning to voice their iconic roles.

Showrunning the Married … With Children animated series is Alex Carter, the executive producer and contributing writer for Family Guy. Created by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt, Married … With Children ran from 1987 to 97 on Fox. The show ran for 11 seasons, comprised of 259 episodes. The Married … With Children animated series is not the first time someone has tried to revive the series. A spin-off of the original focusing on Faustino’s Bud Bundy was proposed in 2014 but did not move forward. The defunct idea revolved around Bud moving back into his old house with his ex-wife and best friend while Peg and Al live in Las Vegas after winning the lottery. Other attempts at reviving the sitcom have crashed and burned, with most stars not having room in their schedules for the effort.

One of the longest-running live-action comedy series on network television, Married … With Children, follows a Chicago family’s lives and their many faults and defects. Among the family are Al, a misogynistic women’s shoe salesman; his lazy wife, Peggy (Sagal); and their children, Kelly (Applegate) and Bud (Faustino). The show was rude, crude, and wouldn’t last a season in a post #MeToo era.

What do you think about Married … With Children returning for an animated series? Do you think the family will translate well to the animation medium? Do you think the Bundy’s neighbors, Marcy D’Arcy (Amanda Bearse) and Jefferson D’Arcy (Ted McGinley), will be included in the revival? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
