For a while it seemed like Mark Wahlberg was going to make most of his movies with filmmaker David O. Russell, but did he spark a new bromance with director Baltasar Kormakur?
Kormakur, who directed Wahlberg in the upcoming thriller CONTRABAND, is now attached to put pistols in his hands for Universal’s 2 GUNS. The comic adaptation is one of numerous projects in the past couple of years that Russell was involved with and then departed.
Vince Vaughn was also once attached to star, but he bounced along with Russell.
The synopsis for the Boom! Comics series: “In the vein of Ocean’s Eleven and The Italian Job, Two Guns is a pulp story about cops and thieves and the men that are something in between. Trench has targeted a local bank to rob, and asked Steadman in on the job. Trench figures it’s a great way to score – considering it’s a cover for mob money. They’ll be thieves ripping off thieves. But what Steadman doesn’t know is that Trench is a DEA agent. And what Trench doesn’t know is that Steadman’s got his own secret and isn’t who he appears to be…”
CONTRABAND is a remake of the Icelandic movie REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM, in which Kormakur starred. You can check out the trailer below.
