Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg seem to enjoying quite the working relationship as of late; the pair worked together on LONE SURVIVOR, are currently shooting the disaster drama DEEPWATER HORIZON, and have an updated version of THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN in development as well. We can now add one more film to the list of Wahlberg/Berg collaborations, THR reports that Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg are in negotiations with STX Entertainment to join forces yet again for the action movie MILE 22.
Wahlberg won't be alone in the Peter Berg directed film, Ronda Rousey (FURIOUS 7) and Iko Uwais (THE RAID) will also join him in MILE 22. Both Ronda Rousey and Iko Uwais were attached to the film when we first heard of it several months ago and Peter Berg was merely taking on a producing role at that point, but it seems as though several things have changed with Wahlberg's involvement.
The film, which has been scripted by Graham Roland, deals with a CIA Agent (Wahlberg) stationed in Indonesia who must transport a compromised informant from the center of the city to a getaway plane 22 miles away. Hey, that's where the title comes from! Smart! The journey will find them battling corrupt police, criminal overlords, and heavily armed locals, all of whom are hell-bent on taking them out before they reach the plane. With Wahlberg, Rousey, and Uwais involved it seems safe to say that MILE 22 will bring us some rather serious action. Bring it on.
