With AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON in production and STAR WARS: EPISODE VII getting ready to roll, there is bound to be some commiseration between the casts of Disney’s two biggest projects. One that I did not expect but that makes perfect sense is a collaboration between Mark Ruffalo and Andy Serkis.
Ruffalo tweeted the following news about AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON a few days ago.
@Captaian_jack Well, I have been working with the great @andyserkis on the big green boy and he is going to be even better then A1.
— Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) April 25, 2014
I would assume Serkis is helping Ruffalo with tips and tricks on how to create the best motion capture experience for the superhero sequel as he has become synonymous with the acting method thanks to roles in KING KONG, THE LORD OF THE RINGS, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, and THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN. With Ruffalo’s portrayal of Hulk now the fan favorite thanks to his dedication to getting the part right, I would fully expect it to get even better in the next film.
Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have promised a much larger role for Hulk and Hawkeye in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, so I would think it is safe to assume things are going to get smashed to f*ck and back. Adding Serkis just makes me even more confident that this is going to be a better movie than the original.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 1, 2015 and STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hits December 18, 2015.
