NOW YOU SEE ME didn't get a lot of attention but certainly made enough at a box office to garner a sequel when it grossed over $350 million worldwide; there is an audience for this somewhere it seems. Director Jon Chu (G.I. JOE: RETALIATION) takes over duties this time and the entire cast with the exception of Isla Fisher is returning. We also get to welcome new magical faces Daniel Radcliffe, Lizzy Caplan, and Jay Chou. Mark Ruffalo took to Instagram today to reveal the upcoming sequel’s subtitle; from the picture below you can see the title NOW YOU SEE ME: THE SECOND ACT.
Here’s the synopsis:
One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their mind-bending spectacles, the Four Horsemen resurface in Now You See Me: The Second Act only to find themselves face to face with a new enemy who enlists them to pull off their most dangerous heist yet.
Along with the vague synopsis, we also know that Radcliffe will be playing the son of Michael Caine’s character. My only issue with the first movie was the CG magic; maybe it’s my fault because I was expecting some cool practical effects and plausible "tricks" like THE PRESTIGE. It was frustrating at times, especially that bubble scene, what was that about? Let’s hope they saved something great for the second act.
NOW YOU SEE ME: THE SECOND ACT also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman. It’s set for a June 10, 2016 release.
