Alright, I'm not going to say that I called this several months ago, but … I totally did!
In what is possibly the most obvious update for news related to Marvel's SHE-HULK series to date, Mark Ruffalo has recently teased a possible appearance for the upcoming Disney+ adaptation.
To be as clear as the definition in She-Hulk's gorgeously-green abs, the deal for Ruffalo to join the cast — even in a guest-star capacity — is far from done. Ruffalo recently told audiences at this past weekend's C2E2 convention in Chicago that his Marvel Cinematic Universe character might make the green scene for Disney's in-the-works adaptation focusing on Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk.
Ruffalo's supposed involvement should come as no surprise to Marvel fans, as it's Banner's blood that transforms his attorney cousin, Jennifer, into the muscle-bound defender of justice. You see, Jennifer's story began back in the 1980's, in the pages of The Savage She-Hulk #1 from Marvel Comics. As the tale to astonish goes, Bruce Banner was visiting his cousin when she was shot by a criminal in the hope of removing her from an upcoming case, permanently. In a state of panic, Bruce breaks into a nearby doctor's office and performs a blood transfusion in the hope of saving her life. Shortly thereafter, Bruce exits the plot, leaving his recovering cousin with gamma-radiated blood coursing through her veins. In time, Jennifer learns that she too can transform into a lean, green freedom fighting machine, all thanks to her cousin's quick-thinking and, some would say, lack of foresight. I mean for a guy that has viewed the Hulk as a curse for so many years, you'd think that he might pause before bestowing that manner of burden on his cousin. Then again, we all have done things that we've come to regret during times of panic. Adrenaline. Such a bitch, right?
As I was saying earlier, Ruffalo spoke about his possible involvement in the SHE-HULK series for Disney+ at C2E2. To watch the Marvel actor field a series of questions about his career, including his thoughts on Hulk appearing in SHE-HULK, you can watch the video posted below. Also, if you don't have time to peep the whole presentations, Ruffalo talks about Professor Hulk at the 12:46 mark, while his SHE-HULK insights appear at the 43:26 mark:
For the moment, we've no idea just how much Ruffalo's Bruce Banner will contribute to SHE-HULK. Again, the deal has to be inked first, so let's take this one step at a time, shall we?
Are you excited by the idea of Ruffalo's Bruce Banner / Professor Hulk appearing on the SHE-HULK series for Disney+? How does this all work if Banner has already chosen to remain as his Professor Hulk persona? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
