Mark Hamill (STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI) will be trading in his laser sword for a real sword in the second season of Knightfall, a TV series airing on the History channel which goes inside the medieval politics and warfare of the Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages. The second season will be bringing along a few new cast members, including Mark Hamill, who will be playing Talus, a "battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran of the Crusades, who survived captivity for ten years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order." Sporting long white hair and a face full of scars, Hamill looks like quite the bad-ass in the new trailer for the second season of the series.
With the historical and ruthless downfall of the Templar Order just over the horizon, season two of Knightfall will focus on themes such as "power, redemption, revenge, betrayal, family, and ultimately an epic war between church and state." Tom Cullen (Downton Abbey) stars as Landry du Lauzon, a "courageous and headstrong Templar Knight, Landry, who last season we left grief-stricken but hopeful, season two will explore this dark time in history from the Templar perspective, embracing an authentically grittier, darker, and more brutal Medieval period than has ever been seen before." I never got around to checking out the first season of Knightfall, but Hamill's involvement has definitely prompted me to check it out. Any Knightfall fans out there? Have I been missing out on something good?
Knightfall will return to History on March 25, 2019.
