Like most of you, I've never met nor spoken with Mark Hamill, but the dude just seems like a genuinely nice guy, which definitely doesn't go unnoticed during these difficult times. The STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER actor recently made a video-call to Jimmy Kimmel Live! in order to surprise a health-care worker from San Diego who just so happens to be a huge STAR WARS fan.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Jimmy Kimmel has been putting on spotlight on those health-care workers who are putting themselves on the line to keep us all safe, and this week's #HealthCareHero is Chloe Ducose, a nurse who performs coronavirus tests in a drive-through tent. After speaking with Chloe about her experiences, Kimmel revealed that someone special wanted to thank Chloe for all the work she's been doing — Enter Mark Hamill. "I've been reading about all you've done," Hamill said. "Six years a nurse, teaching at night, you're in the tents, I mean, that's so great. To me, I'm a pretend hero, you're the real-life hero. So thank you for your service." Kimmel then announced that Chloe would be receiving $10,000 from PayPal (and that all her co-workers would be receiving PayPal vouchers as well) as part of their PayPal It Forward program to give thanks for all of her hard work. In addition, Mark Hamill said that he would be sending along another special gift — a signed lightsaber.
If you have a Health-care Hero who you think should be featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, you can share their story on social media with the #HealthCareHero hashtag and be sure to tag @JimmyKimmelLive. Mark Hamill was most recently seen in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, as well as an episode FX's What We Do in the Shadows.
