Marilyn Manson cut from Creepshow, American Gods after abuse allegations

Musician Marilyn Manson was signed on to have acting roles in two different shows we cover here on Arrow in the Head, the Shudder anthology Creepshow and the Starz Neil Gaiman adaptation American Gods – but now that his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood and four other women have come forward to accuse him of being abusive, he will no longer be seen on those shows.

Fans of Creepshow know that each episode of the series consists of two separate segments. Manson had an acting role in one segment of an upcoming season 2 episode, but Shudder has confirmed to Deadline that "Manson's segment will be replaced".

Manson has already appeared in two episodes of American Gods' third season as "blood-thirsty Johan Wengren, lead singer of the Viking death metal band Blood Death". Manson's Johan was supposed to be in one more episode, but he won't be making it to the air. Starz told Deadline,

Due to the allegations made against Marilyn Manson, we have decided to remove his performance from the remaining episode he is in, scheduled to air later this season. Starz stands unequivocally with all victims and survivors of abuse."

Johan was said to have a "significant part" in that remaining episode, so it will be interesting to see how Starz decides to work around Manson's absence.

As Entertainment Weekly reports,

Wood said in a statement on Instagram that Manson, her ex-fiancé, "horrifically" abused her for years. Four other women also came forward Monday to detail abuse allegations against Manson, one of whom has since deleted her original Instagram post. Manson was previously accused of abuse in the past but has consistently denied the claims.

Manson is denying these claims as well, saying,

My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misinterpret the past, that is the truth."

Manson's music label Loma Vista Records has also dropped him following the allegations.
