As Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment continue to throw ideas up against a wall to see what sticks, it's been reported the Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn for a total of at least four upcoming films: SUICIDE SQUAD 2, GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, the HARLEY QUINN SOLO MOVIE and JOKER AND HARLEY QUINN. Oh, and there's even talk of Robbie voicing the character for an upcoming animated film as well. As much as I enjoy Margot parading around as "Daddy's Little Monster," I can feel myself wanting to borrow a line from BOJACK HORSEMAN's Sarah Lynn by saying, "That's too much, man!" While none of the above-listed projects have release dates, Robbie is more than eager to inform fans that they can expect to Joker's Pumpkin-Pie sooner rather than later.
Recently, Margot sat down with Collider's own Christina Radish to chat about I, TONYA, which has recently been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling category. As the conversation pirouetted away from the ice skating drama, Robbie began commenting on her future work as Harley Quinn.
“Everyone has been working really hard, myself included, to get Harley back on screen,” Robbie told Collider. “I think it will be quite soon. There’s so much more to explore with her. I can’t wait! I hope next year, but with bigger films, it takes a lot longer to get it all up and running.”
As their talk continued, Robbie admitted that she was unsure of what Gavin O' Connor would bring to the SUICIDE SQUAD sequel. While many of us are left pondering that same question, the energetic actress did express her love for playing one of DC Entertainment's most beloved vixens by saying, “I didn’t get enough of her! I was like, ‘I need to keep playing her!’ I love her so much.”
Personally, I felt that Margot Robbie's energetic and empassioned Harley Quinn performance was easily the best thing to come from David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD. My only hope is that DC finds a way to replace Jared Leto as The Joker before any of these other projects start rolling.
