We've got a lot to look forward to this year in the realm of superhero films, not least of which is the upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD featuring the "worst heroes ever". Director David Ayer assembled quite the interesting ensemble of actors to play the titular squad, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. With SUICIDE SQUAD's release date just a few months away, many fans are growing quite excited to finally watch the film, and Margot Robbie is no different. During an interview with Hello Giggles, Robbie explained how she's more excited than anyone about SUICIDE SQUAD.
I think I’m more excited than anyone about this movie. I’m not even going to pretend to play it cool. I am dying to see it. When people are like “I can’t wait to see it.” I’m like “You’ve got no idea, I want to see it more than you do!” I think it’s going to be so cool, and I just love that there’s a chick character who’s that badass, and who’s actually, like funnier and crazier and stronger than some of the males. I think that rarely happens. It’s an ensemble movie, and the ensemble is so strong. Every single cast member is brilliant. Everyone’s character is so good, everyone gets their moment in the film, and working with them was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I love this squad.
Harley Quinn has worn her share of eclectic costumes over the years, including her classic court jester outfit, and Margot Robbie revealed that SUICIDE SQUAD's costume department made her try on almost every variation of Harley Quinn's costume before finally settling on the look featured in the film.
We tried on every variation of the costume. I cannot emphasis enough how many outfits, and how many variations of the Harley Quinn costume we tried. We tried the court jester costume, we tried the corset and skirt, we tried leather pants, we tried literally every type of costume possible for her. I really love where we ended up. And who knows, maybe in the sequels we’ll go with the court jester one. I think there’s a world of possibilities.
Even though I'm not overly familiar with several of the characters and comics that SUICIDE SQUAD is drawing upon, the trailers are making the film look like an absolute blast. Warner Bros. must be feeling confident that the film will be a success as it's been rumoured that they've earmarked 2017 to kick off production on the SUICIDE SQUAD sequel. When asked whether she'd be up for more SUICIDE SQUAD films, Margot Robbie replied "absolutely." Yes please.
SUICIDE SQUAD will open on August 5, 2016.
