Figure skating may look like an elegant event filled with graceful athletes, but even this sport is filled with its fair share of nutbags. Enter Tonya Harding, an infamous figure in skating who paid a hitman to break Nancy Kerrigan’s leg in the 90s, a moment in sports history that is the subject of the bonkers-looking biopic – I, TONYA. Margot Robbie plays Tonya Harding in what may go down as her best performance as she gets to let loose as the controversial skater. The new red band trailer teases all the spectacularly foul language and spurts of violence, teasing what will probably go down as one of the craziest movies of the year.
I'm always down for a good biopic, especially when they look as insane as this. The movie wowed at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was runner-up for the People's Choice Award. Now I can see why, because this movie looks like an insane, wild and emotional ride. Robbie looks sensational as she gets to cut loose more than ever before, showing off just how passionate and intense an actress she can be. I can smell the gold a mile away, and I think she certainly has a place in this year's Best Actress race. Let's just hope she doesn't try to have the other actresses killed…
I, TONYA hits theaters December 8.
