As part of Disney's neverending quest to seemingly remake every last one of their animated classics into a live-action affair, Variety has announced that 500 DAYS OF SUMMER and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN series director Marc Webb is in talks to helm a flesh and blood version of Disney's first animated feature film, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES.

While it's important to note that Webb has yet to sign on the project's dotted line, reports from the House of Mouse indicate that he's the top contender for the illustrious gig. Once the deal goes through, Webb is poised to be joined by THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN scribe Erin Cressida Wilson for the live-action adaptation. Wilson is currently negotiating for her contribution to the project, which will expand upon the story, themes, and music of the 1937 original animatied feature. Speaking of music, it's being said that LA LA LAND duo, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, are being for the music portion of the project, which has Marc Platt lined up to produce.

While there have been countless renditions of the SNOW WHITE story shown on the big and small screen throughout the years, the original directed by William Cottrell, David Hand, Wilfred Jackson, Larry Morey, Perce Pearce, and Ben Sharpsteen was based on the Grimm's fairytale of old, which focused on a young woman being exiled into a dangerous forest by her wicked stepmother. Along her journey into the unknown, Snow White is rescued by seven dwarf miners who make her a part of their household. Upon discovering that the princess is still alive, Snow's stepmother transforms into a wicked witch, and poisons her stepdaughter with the intent of killing her.

All aboard the Disney remake train, ladies and gentlemen. This year's stops include Tim Burton's DUMBO, Guy Ritchie's ALADDIN, and Jon Favreau's THE LION KING! Be sure to plan your trip accordingly if you want to take advantage of every station, because Disney's caboose is on the loose and this runaway train ain't showin' no signs of stoppin'! Toot toot!
