Deadline reports that Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and Sydelle Noel (GLOW) have signed on to join Frank Grillo (Boss Level), Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine 3D), Josh Plasse (There’s No Such Thing as Vampires), Will Peltz (Unfriended), and newcomer Kathryn Hughes in the cast of the cult horror film Man’s Son, which marks the feature directorial debut of Remy Grillo. Remy Grillo happens to be the son of Frank Grillo.
Along with this casting announcement comes the news that Voltage Pictures has boarded the project to handle international sales. The company’s Jonathan Deckter said, “Remy’s vision for this terrifying, grounded thriller had us hooked from the start.”
Scripted by Josh Plasse and Brev Moss, Man’s Son was “inspired by modern occult activity in the California desert”. The story centers on
a young couple (Hughes and Plasse) hoping to create an aesthetically pleasing audition tape for an up-and-coming Charles Manson film. When they choose an eclectic desert Airbnb as the perfect backdrop, the dark events of the audition material slowly slip into their reality, until they find themselves intertwined in an occult, sinister plot led by King and Grillo’s characters.
Coming to us from Hooligan Dreamers Productions, Dare Angel, Margate House Films, and Mi Nene, Man’s Son is being produced by Plasse, Shakira Barrera, Conor Allyn, Johnny James Fiore, Benjamin Anderson, Jake Allyn, Fabio Lo Fria, Jaime King, and Emma Comley. Bobby McMichael, Nida Kahl, Chido Nwokocha, and Dennis Echelberger serve as executive producers.
XYZ Films picked up the North American distribution rights to the film earlier this month, with the plan being to release it later this year or sometime in early 2023.
Man’s Son sounds interesting to me, so I’m glad to see it continuing to move forward and gather interesting cast members. Are you looking forward to this one? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
