In the last three years. Judd Apatow’s films have made major stars out of Steve Carrell, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, Katherine Heigl (and after FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, you can probably add Jason Segel to that list), and to a lesser extent, Leslie Mann. But who cares? She’s married to him so his money is her money, and that’s what making movies is all about (money!).
There’s no doubt that after he role in KNOCKED UP, Mann’s profile has risen, and it’s bound to do so even more, now that she’s signed on to the Jim Carrey comedy I LOVE YOU, PHILLIP MORRIS. Now this is a plot: Carrey plays a married father who is sent to prison and falls in love with his cell-mate Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor—what’s not to love?), and hatches a bunch of escape plans in an effort to reunite once Phil is released. Mann will play Carrey’s wife, and the film will be directed by the dudes who wrote BAD SANTA, so expect this to be filthy. You can next seen Mann in 17 AGAIN with Zac Efron, and then teaming up with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen in her husband’s next directing project.
