Fans of Manifest are still reeling from NBC's decision to cancel the series after three seasons. Given the fact that the creators of the show had a six-season plan for the missing plane drama, that means the show ends its run with unanswered questions and many mysteries unsolved. That's bound to be frustrating for any fan but there seems to be some hope on the horizon and that hope could come in the form of Netflix.
The first two seasons of the series debuted on Netflix last Thursday and quickly climbed to the No.1 spot in the U.S., which it has held for a week now. That strong showing has made it a prime candidate to get a resurrection of sorts on the streamer. According to "Deadline", conversations between lead Manifest studio Warner Bros. TV and Netflix are ongoing as the streamer is evaluating the viability and financials of a possible pickup. There have been just a couple of canceled broadcast series that have been rescued by Netflix and the most notable example is Lucifer, which became a hit as a Netflix original following its cancellation by Fox after three seasons.
What's looking encouraging for fans is that Lucifer is also produced by WBTV, giving the studio and Netflix a working template for how to successfully move a three-year-old broadcast drama to the platform. Lucifer is now headed into its sixth and final season and arguably became more popular once it made the move to Netflix.
NBC canceled Manifest less than 24 hours after the options on the cast were to expire on stars Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, JR Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, and Matt Long. Talks with the actors about two-week option extensions were paused while conversations with Netflix carry on. The cast showed their support for the series by joining the #SaveManifest Twitter campaign that was started by the fans and supported by creator Jeff Rake. The entire cast is also willing to continue on the show if it were to move to Netflix.
