Manborg heads to the West Coast for premiere on April 13th

Some lucky cats on the West Coast will get the chance to see the sci-fi/fantasy MANBORG before it hits select theaters and DVD on April 30th from Dark Sky Films. MANBORG’s West Coast premiere will take place at 10PM on April 13th, 2013, at Cinefamily at The Silent Movie Theater in Los Angeles, California. On April 13th, the forces of Hell will rise in Los Angeles – and it’s going to take Manborg to save them! That’s right – the retro sci-fi/fantasy throwback MANBORG, coming to select theaters and DVD from Dark Sky Films, celebrates its West Coast Premiere as part of Cinefamily’s wildly popular Video Nights!
Premiering April 13th with a repertory screening of the 1986 exploitation classic Eliminators, MANBORG might just be Cinefamily’s wildest, most off-the-wall Video Night ever – an affectionate, lo-fi tribute to’80s films and videogames like The Terminator, RoboCop and Mortal Kombat that Variety called “enjoyably ridiculous!”

Attending the West Coast Premiere will be writer/director/editor/makeup artist Steven Kostanski, as well as co-writer Jeremy Gillespie! Members of the celebrated filmmaking collective Astron-6, the Canada-based duo are best-known for 2011’s Father’s Day.

The armies of hell have taken over the Earth, and all that stands in the way of the villainous Count Draculon (Adam Brooks) and humanity’s total extinction is a motley crew of misfits led by the mighty Manborg (Matthew Kennedy): a warrior who’s half-man, half-machine – and all hero.

Peter Howell of the Toronto Star calls it “an energizing and cheesy homage to and parody of 1980s sci-fi horror action movies. … It’s also a marvel of DIY makeup, costuming and special effects.”

And for those fanborgs who can’t wait for the Dark Sky’s US release on April 30th, MANBORG can now visit the big screen in their city via Tugg Inc!
