Everything old is new again in Hollywood, which is a well established fact. Even when it comes to the Holocaust. Although one wouldn’t really associate the Mouse House with some of the worst atrocities committed by the human race.
According to Variety, Disney acquired the cinematic rights to THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK for none other than GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS‘ David Mamet to write, produce and direct. The project will be based on the famed diary itself, as well as the 1955 play by Frances Goodrich & Albert Hacket which in turn became an Oscar-favorite film in 1959.
In case somebody doesn’t know about her, Anne Frank was a Jewish girl whose family spent 2 years of WWII living in the hidden rooms of a Nazi-infested building. And not a deaf-blind southern “chick” as Randall Graves seems to think.
So aside from the inevitable Ricky Jay and Rebecca Pidgeon appearances, who else should be living inside those walls, especially as Anne Frank herself? Please don’t say Kristen Stewart! She’s too old anyway.
