Malum: Anthony DiBlasi’s Last Shift reimagining is now in theatres

Director Anthony DiBlasi’s Malum, a reimagining of his 2014 film Last Shift, is now in theatres. Jessica Sula stars

About seven months ago, we heard that director Anthony DiBlasi was making an “expanded reimagining” of his well-received 2014 horror feature Last Shift. That reimagining, titled Malum, is now in theatres, and you can check out a behind-the-scenes featurette in the embed above.

Jessica Sula (Split) stars in Malum, which has the following synopsis: On a search to uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding her father’s death, a newly appointed police officer, Jessica Loren (Sula) is assigned to the last shift in a decommissioned police station where a notoriously vicious cult saw their demise years prior. The lone officer at the station, she soon finds herself barraged by terrifying paranormal events, and in the process, is taken on a journey during which she learns the shocking truth behind her family’s entanglement with a demented cult leader. Malum takes the premise of the 2014 festival hit Last Shift and flips it on its head, thrusting viewers into an unrelenting, adrenaline-fueled, bloody cult nightmare.

Sula is joined in the cast by Candice Coke, Chaney Morrow, Clarke Wolfe, Morgan Lennon, Valerie Loo, Monroe Cline, Eric Olson, Sam Brooks, Kevin Wayne, Danielle Coyne, Natalie Victoria, Christopher Matthew Spencer, and Britt George.

DiBlasi wrote the screenplay with Scott Poiley, who was also his co-writer on Last Shift. DiBlasi had this to say about the project: “The world Scott and I envisioned for this story was always meant to be a dark, twisted rollercoaster through Hell, and partnering with Welcome Villain allowed us to fully realize our vision without the limitations we faced with the original film. The practical effects, authentic locations, incredible cast and unwavering support from team Villain propelled this project to an entirely new level that we hope will more than satisfy existing fans and new fans alike.

Poiley produced Malum with Dan Clifton. Mary Poiley, Luke LaBeau, Eric Kleifield, Bonner Bellew, and Justin Brown serve as executive producers. Waxwork Records will be releasing the film’s score on vinyl, and copies can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK.
