The HALLOWEEN franchise is floating in the void like Carol Anne Freeling, trapped in the other side with no way to reach it. Every time a new story hits, it comes crashing down again. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton's HALLOWEEN RETURNS was scrapped, the rights to the franchise left Dimension, and now last week's rumors of a potential Halloween TV series have been denied.
Franchise executive producer Malek Akkad told Dread Central, “No, utter rumors and falsehoods.” It's not an enormously elaborate quote, but it doesn't exactly come as a surprise. The property is really suffering right now and they probably don't want to rush anything while they try to figure out the next step.
Just like the new FRIDAY THE 13TH movie, I wish they'd just buck up and get something solid into production, but for the time being it seems that Haddonfield and your TV screens are safe from the Boogeyman.
