We are all still shaken up by the recent passing of one of the true masters of horror, George A. Romero, but maybe chipping in on this new campaign will help smooth out the loss a bit.
As some of you may know, the NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD director received his star on the Walk of Fame this past October. But the huge cost associated with the event (including the actual gold star) are running upwards of $60k.
Now a gathering of Romero fans – including Mr. Malcolm McDowell – are banding together to fund the extra $35k needed. The campaign is called the "George A. Romero Star Ceremony – Walk of Fame" and has been put together by Chris Roe & Matt O'Neill.
Below you can find a rundown of the campaign via Generosity, as well as McDowell's personal plea. After checking through all of that, head over to the project's campaign page (link below) and give what you can.
After that make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think of this campaign in the new comments section below, or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.
George A. Romero Star Ceremony – Walk of Fame rundown:
As you may be aware, George A. Romero was nominated and selected to receive his, long over due, star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this October. The enormous costs associated with this honor are well over $60,000 (including the price of the actual star, and star reception events). We are turning to you who knew and loved George for help to complete our star completion fund. Please look at our Donation Levels for the benefits you will receive.
Your assistance in this great celebration, honoring this wonderful man, is truly appreciated.
*Due to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confidentiality agreement, regarding the star ceremony date, we are unable to disclose the date of the ceremony publicly. We will contact those who donate at the end of the fundraiser with the date in late October.
Sincerely,
Chris Roe & Matt O'Neill
