Maisie Williams says final season of Game of Thrones to debut next April

At the beginning of the new year, HBO confirmed that the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones wouldn't arrive until 2019, and now, thanks to Maisie Williams, we may know which month the series will return. While speaking with Metro about her work on Aardman Animation's upcoming EARLY MAN, the actress spoke about filming the final season of Game of Thrones, as well as revealing that the first episode will air in April.

We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.

Although the final season will consist of just six episodes this time around, it's a good bet that each and every one of them will positively epic in scope as David Benioff and D. B. Weiss wrap up the series. As for where Maisie Williams would like to see Arya's story end, Williams said that she's "always said I wanted her to find peace. The things that have been driving her through her story have been very bitter and twisted and aggressive. I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy." Will Arya find happiness at the end? Who knows, but perhaps her version of happiness will be when each and every name on her death list meets their end.

Until we hear something more official, pencil in April 2019 as the return of Game of Thrones.
