Madonna gives update on health, postponed tour

Madonna has given fans a health update just in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her landmark Lucky Star album.

Madonna update

Just over a month after suffering a bacterial infection that sent her to the ICU, the legendary Madonna (get with it, Rolling Stone!) has shared an update with fans on social media.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Madonna provided words of thanks and an update on her progress. “To be able to move my body and dance just a little bit makes me feel like the Luckiest Star in the world!
Thank you to all of my fans and friends!
You must be my lucky stars too!
And Happy 40th Birthday to my very. First Album- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Madonna added in a previous update that she was concerned not just for herself and family, but her fans who bought tickets for her tour. “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”

While the news of Madonna’s health scare – announced by her manager last month – was concerning to fans in general, that it occurred just weeks before The Celebration Tour was set to kick off on July 15th was only more troubling. As of now, the first leg of the tour – which would have started in Vancouver and ended in Las Vegas in October – has been postponed, while Madonna plans to strike a pose when the tour officially begins in London this fall\on October 14th in London. Madonna, like so many around the world – The Celebration Tour had sold out more than half of its 80+ dates – was eagerly anticipating her first tour since her 2019-2020 Madame X Tour. Certainly fans will keep an eye out for updates on Madonna’s North American tour dates.

A biopic of Madonna, which the Queen of Pop set to direct herself, was scrapped by Universal last year ahead of her tour. On digging through scripts, Madonna said, “I read that Universal was doing a script…Like they sent me the script because they wanted my blessing, and I read it. It was the most hideous, superficial crap I’ve ever read.” So it seems like we’ll have to do with Evan Rachel Wood in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
