Machinima pilot Enormous finds cast, begins filming today

Last month we brought you word that an adaptation of Tim Daniel's graphic novel ENORMOUS was set to stomp its way to us in the form of a pilot being developed for online entertainment player Machinima, and today we have news on who will be filling some of the casting slots for this ambitious project.

THR is reporting that Ceren Lee, Erica Gimpel ("Cult", "True Blood") and Steve Brand (WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END) have signed on to star in this live-action tale of…

…a cataclysmic ecological event that creates massive beasts that overrun human civilization and puts mankind at the bottom of the food chain.

The pilot will be produced for Machinima before turning it into a full-fledged series that can play on various digital platforms the company appears on, including the new Xbox One.

BenDavid Grabinski, who helmed the short COST OF LIVING, will direct the pilot whose concept is a blend of CLOVERFIELD and "The Walking Dead". Grabinski penned the script with TROLL HUNTER helmer Andre Øvredal.

Lee will play the lead, a women who works for the United Nation's Search and Rescue division looking for abandoned children. Gimpel's character protects Lee's rescuer. Brand is the story's antagonist, a soldier of fortune making a living in this post-apocalyptic world.

Production on ENORMOUS begins today in Los Angeles.

Here's Image Comics' synopsis of "Enormous":

In the midst of a planetary collapse, a vast ecological cataclysm spawns THE ENORMOUS, massive beasts unlike anything ever witnessed. Humankind struggles to stave off extinction and the only law is to hunt or be hunted!
