After scoring with live action web series based on the “Halo” and “Mortal Kombat” video game franchises, online entertainment player Machinima is turning to comicbooks for new programming, bringing us a 10-minute pilot based on the graphic novel "Enormous", according to Variety.
Machinima has paired with producer Adrian Askarieh and his Prime Universe Productions to produce a 10-minute pilot based on the graphic novel created by Tim Daniel and artist Mehdi Cheggour (“Heavy Metal”) that revolves around…
…a cataclysmic ecological event that creates massive beasts that overrun human civilization and puts mankind at the bottom of the food chain.
The pilot will be produced for Machinima before turning it into a full-fledged series that can play on various digital platforms the company appears on, including the new Xbox One.
BenDavid Grabinski, who helmed the short COST OF LIVING, will direct the pilot whose concept is a blend of CLOVERFIELD and "The Walking Dead". Grabinski penned the script with TROLL HUNTER helmer Andre Øvredal.
Here's Image Comics' synopsis of "Enormous":
In the midst of a planetary collapse, a vast ecological cataclysm spawns THE ENORMOUS, massive beasts unlike anything ever witnessed. Humankind struggles to stave off extinction and the only law is to hunt or be hunted!
Shooting begins next month in Los Angeles.
