January 2010 is starting to look better and better. With the releases of PIRANHA 3D and RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE on Blu-Ray and DVD things can only look up when MACHETE rolls onto shelves. MACHETE is scheduled to hit stores on January 4th, 2011. Down below are the DVD specs and bonus features that you can expect to see. It’s pretty sweet stuff if I might add. You can pre-order the Blu-Ray right here or the DVD here.
Honestly though, MACHETE was a bus load of fun. It was pretty fantastic watching it on the big screen but I’ve got a feeling this will be the kind of movie you’d want to get drunk to with your friends. While I personally wasn’t a hundred percent blown away by the movie (the faux trailer seemed more fun) I did have a good time anyway. Check out the specs below:
From director Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse, Sin City), and featuring an all-star cast including Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro and Jessica Alba, comes an action-packed, bare-knuckled fistful of carnage asada! Set up, double-crossed and left for dead, Machete (Trejo) is an ass-kicking ex-Federale who lays waste to anything that gets in his path. As he takes on hit men, vigilantes and a ruthless drug cartel, bullets fly, blades clash and the body count rises. Any way you slice it, vengeance has a new name–Machete.
And now get the full Machete story with exclusive deleted scenes that reveal never-before-seen characters, twisting plot lines, and more bloody good action!
MACHETE is available as a 2-Disc Blu-ray with Digital Copy and 1-Disc DVD for the suggested retail prices of $39.99 U.S. / $49.99 Canada and $29.98 U.S. / $43.48 Canada, respectively.
Machete now includes another way to get a Digital Copy of the movie. Through Digital Copy via Pocket BLU, consumers can now transfer a Digital Copy of a movie wirelessly from a BD-Live enabled Blu-ray player directly to a portable device. The Machete Blu-ray release still includes a physical Digital Copy disc but now offers this new wireless transfer method as well. Always simple, fast and portable, this next generation of Digital Copy makes it even easier for consumers to enjoy movies on the go. Digital Copy via Pocket BLU currently plays on Apple portable devices and soon will be extended for Android platform support.
The synopsis (if you haven’t already seen it)
The highly skilled Federale MACHETE is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!
Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson, Jessica Alba (below), Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin and Tom Savini also add a bit of seediness.
