You know what’s really frustrating? When Mel Gibson is in serious discussion to join a movie, but I have no idea what part he’ll play. Because if Gibson signs up for something, I can generally be assured that I’ll soon be able to add that role to my list of favorite performances by any actor. He’s just that consistently good and inventive with what he does.
Which leads me to today’s news which states that, in confirmation of a report from two weeks ago, Gibson is now on the verge of joining Danny Trejo in MACHETE KILLS. All the report says is that Gibson is currently in negotiations for “a supporting role,” which could of course mean anything from a new priest pal to a brutal and wisecracking villain.
Robert Rodriguez plans to have MACHETE KILLS shot before summer brings on the next installment of SIN CITY, with the plot being about how “Machete is drafted by the U.S. government to tracks an arms dealer through Mecico before he can launch a rocket.”
So what do you think? Would you want to see Gibson in the villain role, or would you prefer he assists Trejo’s Machete in his own badass way?
