Macaulay Culkin gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Look what you did, you little jerk! Macaulay Culkin finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last Friday, being recognized for his landmark work as a child actor and beyond.

Special guests at the ceremony — in which Macaulay Culkin was bestowed the 2,765th star on the Walk of Fame — included Home Alone mom Catherine O’Hara and Natasha Lyonne, a former child star herself who co-starred in 2003’s Party Mondter. At the event, O’Hara gave a touching tribute to the star, who she first worked with when he was just 10. “I know you worked really hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do…Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion. I’m so proud of you.”

Macaulay Culkin is actually the first Home Alone cast member to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, although Joe Pesci, the late John Candy and more are certainly worthy.

In a statement by Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez, she praised Macaulay Culkin as “a staple in pop culture for decades. He has an extensive trajectory of work but his movie, “Home Alone” is one of the most beloved holiday movies known the world over. How fitting that Catherine O’Hara who played Macaulay’s mother in the film is reuniting with her movie son and will be speaking at the ceremony!”

Other guests at Macaulay Culkin’s ceremony included younger brother Rory, Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris (Culkin is her godfather, having maintained a close relationship with the King of Pop) and Seth Green, who also appeared in Party Monster. He was also joined by his partner Brenda Song, who herself grew up in the business.

A December date for the honor is fitting considering families revisit Home Alone every year. The series somehow has six movies in total, although Macaulay Culkin only played Kevin McCallister twice (sort of…).
