Ma director reveals outline for potential sequel

While I haven't seen the Blumhouse-produced horror-thriller Ma – directed by Tate Taylor (The Help) and starring Octavia Spencer – yet, I know it has garnered a bit of a cult following since its initial release. And in a recent interview with EW, Taylor – ostensibly promoting his upcoming dark comedy Breaking News in Yuba County – got to talk about his idea for a potential Ma sequel!

Here's what he had to say:

an you believe how much Ma lives on? Isn't that just crazy? I don't think we thought Ma was going to have this afterlife as this cult thing, and I think it's worth discussing [a sequel]. I know Octavia would do it, that's why I purposely left her death ambiguous!

My idea is that she's moved to another town, and she has open houses in another city and kills people in the open house…I think she'd be a real estate agent in the Pacific Northwest, and just murder white people looking at McMansions. That's as far as I've gotten!

And here's the synopsis for the original film:

A lonely middle-aged woman befriends some teenagers and decides to let them party in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules: One of the kids has to stay sober, don't curse, and never go upstairs. They must also refer to her as Ma. But as Ma's hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare, and Ma's place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on Earth.

Meanwhile, Octavia Spencer was most recently seen in last year's The Witches remake, while Tate Taylor has Breaking News in Yuba County coming out February 12th!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the original Ma? If so, looking forward to a sequel, if it were to happen? Either way, sound off below!
