M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit gets a poster; trailer to debut Thursday

It's that time again when a new M. Night Shyamalan (AFTER EARTH, THE LAST AIRBENDER) flick is almost upon us and the world will wonder if he can rekindle the magic he had early on in his career. His latest, entitled THE VISIT, tells the story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm, where they discover something deeply disturbing. I found my grandparents' house disturbing just because of the lack of a Nintendo console, but I'm guessing the Shyamalan has something different in mind. We can expect the first trailer to hit on Thursday, but the poster is here to give you that creepy old-person vibe.

Amazingly, I've found that M. Night's more recent work has transcended the "so bad it's good" plateau to "unwatchable" territory. Still, I'm not of the school of thought that a director is only as good as his last work so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The story of this one doesn't grab me, but I'll have to see the trailer to see how creepy these grandparents are. Maybe one of them has false teeth and smells like old cheese.

THE VISIT will hit theaters on September 11, 2015.

THE HAPPENING, on the other hand, is one of my favorite Shyamalan comedies.
