Lupita Nyong’o saves kids from zombies in Little Monsters red-band trailer

When washed-up musician Dave (Alexander England) volunteers to help chaperone a petting zoo field trip in order to impress his nephew's teacher, Miss Caroline (Lupita Nyong'o), he never imagined that he'd find himself the midst of a zombie outbreak. Thankfully, the perpetually cheerful Miss Caroline is more than capable of handling the zombies while also keeping her kindergarten class safe.

A new red-band trailer for LITTLE MONSTERS has been released, and it looks like a lot of fun; equal parts sweet and gruesome. In his review of the film when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, our own Chris Bumbray said LITTLE MONSTERS is a little like a cross between BILLY MADISON and SHAUN OF THE DEAD. I like it. As expected, Bumbray was full of praise for LITTLE MONSTERS' leading lady. "Nyong’o is quite charming in a change-of-pace role, but she also grounds the character with a real sense of purpose. She knows she’s responsible for the kids and is hellbent on keeping them all alive, while, additionally, looking out for their mental well-being by pretending it’s all a game," Bumbray said. "We’ve never really seen Nyong’o so laid-back and loose in a film, with her busting out the ukulele to sing Taylor Swift songs while picking off zombies with a shovel, and it further cements her range."

The official synopsis for LITTLE MONSTERS:

Little Monsters follows Dave (Alexander England), as washed-up musician who volunteers to chaperone his nephew’s kindergarten class field trip after taking a serious liking to the fearless schoolteacher, Miss Caroline (Lupita Nyong’o). Dave’s intentions are complicated by the presence of the world’s most famous kids’ show personality and competition for Miss Caroline’s affections, Teddy McGiggle (Josh Gad). One thing none of them bargained for, however, is a sudden zombie outbreak. Will Dave rise to the occasion and have a chance at Miss Caroline’s heart, or will zombies get there first?

LITTLE MONSTERS will hit UK and Irish cinemas on November 15, 2019.
