A third season of the adult animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots is coming to the Netflix streaming service on May 20th, and a teaser trailer has been released online to give a preview of the stories fans can expect to see in this season. Clips from the new season are mixed together in the teaser trailer with moments from some of the most popular episodes from the show’s first two seasons. Check it out in the embed above!
Produced by Tim Miller, David Fincher, Joshua Donen, and Jennifer Miller, Love, Death & Robots is inspired by Miller and Fincher’s appreciation for Gerald Potterton’s 1981 animated film Heavy Metal. The series has covered
a variety of adult topics including racism, government, war, free will, and human nature. The anthology collection spans the science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy genres and each short has a unique animation style: from traditional 2D to photo-real 3D CGI. The creators were assembled for a global calling for best in class animators from all over the world including artists from France, Korea, Hungary, Canada, and the US among others.
While the first season of Love, Death & Robots consisted of eighteen episodes, the episode count was shortened to eight for season 2, and it’s believed that season 3 is also made up of eight episodes. That hasn’t been confirmed, though. The first season premiered on March 15, 2019, and the second arrived on May 14, 2021.
Although this project sounds interesting to me, I haven’t watched the previous seasons. So to those of you who have watched Love, Death & Robots, did you enjoy the first two seasons, and would you recommend the show to readers of Arrow in the Head, and are you looking forward to season 3?
