I wonder how many movie posters feature a shot of the Manhattan skyline in the background? I have a feeling it’s somewhere around 771, and we can now make that 772 because a new poster for HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE has been released, and yes, there in the bottom right corner, faded almost into oblivion, is the Empire State building and some surrounding midtown constructs. The film stars Simon Peg, who’s getting his first real shot at stateside stardom, Kirsten Dunst, Megan Fox (!), Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges. It’s based on the memoir of Toby Young, a British writer who struggles to fit in the high-powered world of a top New York magazine. I always thought the way to lose friends and alienate people was to spit in their face and call their mothers the ‘h’ word, or the ‘f’ word, or the ’c’ word, or the ‘k’ word, or the ‘s’ word, or the ‘w’ word, and I can go on and on. They’ve all worked for me. The movie will be released October 3 in the UK.
