Looney Tunes is getting a movie reboot courtesy of comedian Jenny Slate

Jason Segel’s reboot of THE MUPPETS was a big success, so looks like it is time to try and bring back another crew of zany characters.

Comedian Jenny Slate, formerly of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, has been hired to write the screenplay for a new Looney Tunes movie. We haven’t seen Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, or any of the other classic characters since LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION. That movie was directed by Joe Dante and ended up just being a mess. Here’s hoping this will end up being more like SPACE JAM, which was the last tolerable combination of animation and live action we have had.

Slate is most famous for her Marcel the Shell with Shoes On YouTube video and children’s book and her infamous use of the f-word on her first appearance on SNL. She has since lent her voice to THE LORAX and played the villain in ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED.

The new Looney Tunes movie will be produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith. No word on a director or possible live action casting, but as long as Brendan Fraser is not in the movie, we will be good.
