Andre Benjamin, formerly Andre 3000, 1/2 of the hip-hop duo Outkast, has signed on to co-star with Will Ferrell and Woody Harrelson in the upcoming basketball comedy SEMI-PRO. Benjamin would play another player on the fictional 1970s ABA team, the Flint Tropics. Ferrell’s character is a former benchwarmer who returns to buy the team so he can finally play on a winner. Kent Alterman is directing from a script by Scot Armstrong (OLD SCHOOL, STARSKY AND HUTCH). The film will be Ferrell’s next project and will begin production early next year. Benjamin was recently seen (or not-seen) in the crtiical and commercial disappointment IDLEWILD. Benjamin has a voice in the upcoming CHARLOTTE’S WEB and is currently filming BATTLE IN SEATTLE with Charlize Theron, Susan Sarandon and his soon-to-be co-star Harrelson.
